Western Michigan Broncos Betting Preview

The Western Michigan Broncos are 6-4 (5-1) this year after they defeated Ohio by a score of 17-13 in their last game. Western Michigan trailed 13-10 in the fourth quarter, but they answered with a quick touchdown and played great defense to get the win. The Broncos out gained Ohio by a total of 336-287, went 0-8 on third downs, and won the turnover battle by a margin of 1-0 in the game. Broc Lowry went 9-14 for 126 yards, while also rushing for 92 yards and one score on 18 carries. Talique Williams led the receivers with one catch for 71 yards in the win. The WMU defense recorded two sacks and two tackles for loss in the game.

Prior to that game, Western Michigan defeated Central Michigan by a score of 24-21, but did lose to Miami (OH) by a score of 26-17 before that. The Broncos have won six of their last seven games and they are currently first in the MAC standings. Western Michigan has scored 21.8 points per game with 157.6 passing yards and 163.1 rushing yards per game, while they have allowed 18.4 points against per game this season. Broc Lowry has thrown for 1,440 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception, while also leading the rushing attack with 683 yards and nine scores on 143 carries this year.

Northern Illinois Huskies Betting Preview

The Northern Illinois Huskies are 3-7 (2-4) this season after they defeated UMass by a score of 45-3 in their last game. Northern Illinois led 31-0 at halftime and cruised to the easy victory in the second half. The Huskies out gained UMass by a total of 433-262, went 5-11 on third downs, and won the turnover battle by a total of 1-0 in the game. Jalen Macon went 3-4 for 73 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 98 yards and three scores on 12 carries. Elijah Porter led the receivers with one catch for 67 yards and one touchdown in the win. The NIU defense recorded one sack and four tackles for loss in the game.

Prior to that game, Northern Illinois lost to Toledo by a score of 42-3, but did beat Ball State by a score of 21-7 before that. The Huskies have won two of their last three games and they are currently near the bottom of the MAC standings. Northern Illinois has scored 15.5 points per game with 108.1 passing yards and 176.4 rushing yards per game, while they have allowed 22.2 points against per game this season. Jalen Macon has thrown for 73 yards and one touchdown, while Telly Johnson Jr has rushed 110 times for 634 yards and three scores this season.

Matchup/League Facts

Western Michigan vs Northern Illinois Prediction

Western Michigan comes into this matchup after a huge win over Ohio last week and they are leading the MAC standings, but they will be on the road here. The Broncos have a very good rushing attack and their defense has allowed 13 points or fewer in three of their last five games. Northern Illinois has won two of their last three games, but their last win came against UMass and they have no passing attack. I don’t think the NIU ground game will have much success against this Broncos defense and I expect Western Michigan to win by double digits here.

David Racey's Pick: Western Michigan -6
