The UTSA Roadrunners and the Texas A&M Aggies meet in week 1 college football action from Kyle Field on Saturday. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a UTSA Roadrunners vs. Texas A&M Aggies prediction.

UTSA Roadrunners Team Preview

The UTSA Roadrunners come into 2025 looking to reclaim their old status atop the AAC after a 7-6 mark in 2024, that culminated in a Myrtle Beach Bowl win over Coastal Carolina. Owen McCown is back for the Roadrunners after throwing for 3,424 yards and 25 touchdowns last year. Running back Kevorian Barnes, with 1,300+ career yards, pairs with transfer Robert Henry for solid two-headed option in the Roadrunner backfield. The good news is that the receiving corps brings back a ton of returning production, with five of the top six pass catchers returning. Defensively, UTSA’s pass rush, fifth in sacks and third in tackles for loss in 2024, gets a boost from transfers Cameron Blaylock and Kalan Roberts-Day. Linebacker Shad Banks Jr. returns in the middle of the front seven, while safety Owen Pewee and Kaden Meier is back to anchor a deep UTSA secondary.

Why the UTSA Roadrunners will win

  • Texas A&M has lost three of its last four games as a favorite.
  • UTSA has won five of its last six games in Texas.
  • Texas A&M has failed to cover the spread in each of its last seven games as a favorite against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • UTSA has covered the spread in each of its last five games.

Texas A&M Aggies Team Preview

The Texas A&M Aggies come into the 2025 season hoping to keep the ship headed in the right direction after going 8-5 in 2024, with a 5-3 mark in SEC play. The Aggies would get an invite to the Las Vegas Bowl, where they lost 35-31 to USC. Marcel Reed is expected to be the guy for the Aggies going forward at QB after hitting 61% of his pass attempts last year and Jacob Zeno is a solid QB2 waiting in the wings after transferring in from UAB. Le’Veon Moss is still out of the Aggie backfield with a leg injury, but Amari Daniels has the chance to solidify his role in this offense after logging 661 yards and 8 TDs last season. Mario Craver transfers in from Mississippi State to help the Aggie receiving corps, while KC Concepcion was one of the top gets from the portal after logging 124 catches for just under 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first two seasons. On defense, TJ Searcy and Damon Hayes come in from Florida and Rutgers respectively to add beef to the defensive line, while Scooby Williams is back at linebacker after missing time last year and Taurean York is also back after recording a team-high 82 tackles with 2.5 sacks and 9.5 TFLs.

Why the Texas A&M Aggies will win

  • Texas A&M has won each of its last 10 games against non-AP-ranked teams at Kyle Field.
  • UTSA has lost each of its last six road games.
  • UTSA has failed to cover the spread in five of its last six games against AP-ranked teams.
  • The favorite has covered the spread in three of UTSA’s last four games.

Total Points Facts

  • Seven of UTSA’s last eight games have gone OVER the total points line.
  • Six of Texas A&M’s last seven games as a favorite have gone OVER the total points line.

UTSA Roadrunners vs. Texas A&M Aggies Prediction

I’m on the Aggies here. It’s a big number to lay against a solid UTSA team that’s had a fair amount of success as a program in recent years. However, I just think that the Aggies are the bigger, better and more physical team, and I think that the Aggies get the big win and cover in one of the tougher road environments in all of college football. Give me the Aggies in a beatdown.

Chris Ruffolo's Pick: Texas A&M -24.5
