UTEP Miners Betting Preview
The Miners have had a pretty rough time so far this year. They were only able to win two of their first seven games, beating Tennessee-Martin and Sam Houston with losses otherwise versus Utah State, Texas, LA-Monroe, LA Tech and Liberty. Since then it’s been a rough four-game losing streak versus Kennesaw State, Jacksonville State, Missouri State and New Mexico State. That gives the Miners a 2-9 overall record through 11 games this year.
In the New Mexico State game last weekend, the Miners jumped out to a 21-0 lead but were tied by halftime. UTEP was outscored 10-7 in the fourth quarter during a 34-31 loss in the end. Skyler Locklear finished 16-of-30 for 144 yards, two scores and a pick while also rushing in a TD. Ashten Emory carried 18 times for 181 yards and a score, while lead receiver Kenny Odom had eight grabs for 51 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Delaware Blue Hens Betting Preview
Over on the Delaware side, they’ve also had a pretty choppy year. The Hens started out on a nice 3-1 run though, losing to only Colorado with wins versus Delaware State, UConn and Florida International otherwise. The Hens have since won just two games over Middle Tennessee and LA Tech. The losses otherwise were versus Western Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Liberty, Sam Houston and Wake Forest for a 5-6 run overall this year.
In the Wake Forest game last weekend the Hens were overmatched. Delaware gave up double-digit points in each of the first three quarters on the way to a 52-14 blowout loss. QB Nick Minicucci put up 140 yards with a score on 21-of-30 passing and Viron Ellison had 34 yards on nine carries as the lead rusher. Ellison also led the receivers with his seven catches for 60 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort.

UTEP vs Delaware Prediction
I’ll stick with Delaware I suppose, but you could call this one either way. The Hens didn’t really stand a chance against a good Wake Forest team last weekend, giving up 577 yards with 9.6 yards per play, 21 first downs and 6-of-12 on third-down tries. Delaware’s offense gained 300 yards on the other side with 3.9 yards per play, 19 first downs, 8-of-18 on third downs and two lost fumbles. Delaware has a tepid 37 points combined over their last two outings but they’d been scoring pretty well previous to that.
As for UTEP, they lost the handle versus New Mexico State last weekend despite a hot start. The Miners gained 392 yards, 248 rush yards and 6.1 yards per play but went just 5-of-15 on third downs. On the other side UTEP gave up 470 yards, 26 first downs and 8-of-16 on third downs alongside a couple of takeaways. The Miners have been scoring pretty well themselves over the last five outings, so this game seems like a coin flip.
