Tulane Green Wave Betting Preview

Tulane managed to win their first three games over Northwestern, South Alabama and Duke, then took a loss to Ole Miss in game four. The Wave finished off the year with just one more defeat (versus UTSA). Otherwise it was wins over Tulsa, East Carolina, Army, Memphis, Florida Atlantic, Temple, Charlotte and North Texas over the final nine outings. Over 13 games that gives the Wave an 11-2 record this season.

In the North Texas game on December 5, the Wave held a 24-7 lead by the break. Tulane ended up scoring in every quarter on the way to a 34-21 win. QB Jake Retzlaff was 13-of-22 for 145 yards but also scored two times on the ground. Jamauri McClure had 121 yards and a score on 22 carries of his own, while Garrett Mmahat caught three balls for 39 yards in the win as the team’s top receiver.

Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

Over on the Ole Miss side, they kicked off the year with six straight wins over Georgia State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tulane, LSU and Washington State. The Rebels would lose to Georgia in mid-October, but since then they’ve toppled Oklahoma, South Carolina, the Citadel, Florida and Mississippi State. That gives the Rebels an 11-1 overall run across a dozen outings this season so far.

Matched up against Mississippi State on November 28, the Rebels managed to score points in every quarter (but also gave up points in every quarter) on the way to a 38-19 win in the end. QB Trinidad Chambliss was 23-of-34 for 359 yards and four scores. Kewan Lacy had 27 carries for 143 yards and a score while Deuce Alexander caught two balls for 94 yards and a touchdown along the way to the win.

Tulane vs Ole Miss Prediction

I’ll stick with the Rebels I suppose. Ole Miss just missed out on an SEC Championship appearance this year, finishing behind Georgia and Alabama for the top two spots by the slimmest of margins. Coming out at the top end of a tough conference means the Rebels are a stellar team this season, averaging a nice 37.3 points per game with 309.6 pass yards, 22 scores through the air and eight picks. On the ground Ole Miss is effective as well, averaging 188.5 yards per game with 32 total scores.

The last time Tulane and the Rebels met up, Ole Miss rattled off a pretty easy win 45-10 at Vaught-Hemingway back on September 20. The Rebels posted 548 total yards in that one with 307 pass yards, 241 rush yards, 7.9 yards per play, 23 first downs and a very nice 7-of-11 result on third downs. The defense gave up just 282 yards on the other side with 104 pass yards, 4.1 yards per play, 18 first downs and 6-of-15 on third-down conversion attempts. Ole Miss did lose a fumble but played a disciplined game otherwise with just three penalties. The Rebels should be able to control this rematch quite well.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Ole Miss Rebels -17.5
