Matched up against Kent State in their opener last weekend, South Carolina scored double-digit points in three of four quarters on the way to a 57-0 blowout shutout win. I’ll stay with South Carolina but the line’s too thick to mess with. The Gamecocks had very little issue with an overmatched Kent State team in their opener. South Carolina bagged 645 yards (278 rushing), 9.0 yards per play, 35 first downs and a stellar 7-of-8 success rate on third downs. The defense gave up just 179 yards, 3.7 yards per play and 10 first downs on the other side. Granted, Towson will be a tougher opponent—but it won’t be that big of a jump.

Speaking of Towson, they got demolished on the ground by Navy, giving up 506 rushing yards and 30 first downs. The Tigers mustered just 13 first downs and 2-for-8 on third-down tries themselves, managing to hold the ball for just 20:10 of game time. This weekend won’t get a whole lot easier, but we may see a better performance comparatively from Towson.
