In the Liberty Bowl versus Cincinnati, the Midshipmen took a 35-13 victory to finish on a high note.

This year will be head coach Brian Newberry’s fourth. He’ll have a revamped defense at his disposal as Navy looks for its third straight 10+ win season. Trouble is, the team will be without QB Blake Horvath, Landon Robinson and Eli Heidenreich. New signal-caller Braxton Woodson will have a stellar offensive line to work with, though. Victory Sorty and Charles Robinson should make life easier as well.

I’ll just stay with Navy. The Midshipmen are in for an interesting ride this season as they adjust to life without Horvath and the other departed stars. The defensive side of the ball is where Navy will have the most question marks, as that squad had a ton of turnover from top to bottom this past offseason. Guiseppe Sessi and Phillip Hamilton will return to the secondary but otherwise there are a lot of new faces. The make-or-break scenario here is a spot in the conference championship game.

As for Towson, they posted 379 yards (267 passing) with just 16 first downs, 4-of-12 on third down tries and two turnovers in their opener loss to Maine. The Tigers didn’t play too badly on defense despite zero takeaways, but it wasn’t a great performance overall. I don’t have high hopes here either.
