TCU Horned Frogs Betting Preview

The Horned Frogs only have a trio of games in the books so far this year. TCU opened up with a road matchup versus North Carolina on September 1 and things went very well. The Frogs scored 21 points in the third quarter alone in that one, cruising to the win 48-14 in the end. In game two TCU took on Abilene Christian and things went similarly. Following a 28-0 advantage in the first half, the Horned Frogs ended up taking the easy win 42-21. TCU’s offense accounted for 489 yards in the victory and went a nice 9-of-11 on third-down tries.

In their third matchup of the year last weekend versus SMU, the Frogs were up 21-17 heading into the fourth quarter then scored a couple more touchdowns in a 35-24 win. QB Josh Hoover threw for 379 yards, five scores and an interception on 22-of-40 passing. Trent Battle was the team’s leading rusher with 60 yards on seven carries, but Eric McAlister was the star on eight catches, three scores and a whopping 254 yards receiving.

Arizona State Sun Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Arizona State side, they had some mixed results over their first few games. The opener ended up going pretty well, as the Sun Devils dispatched Northern Arizona 38-19. Game two versus Mississippi State was Arizona State’s first loss of the year, though; the Sun Devils dropped that one by a score of 24-20. The good news for Arizona is that they were able to get back on the horse versus Texas State, powering out a 34-15 win to move to 2-1 overall. The Sun Devils managed to post 433 yards on offense in that one, with 245 coming on the ground.

Matched up against Baylor last weekend, the Sun Devils were able to keep pace the whole way. A 3-0 advantage in the third quarter proved to be the difference in a tight 27-24 road win. QB Sam Leavitt threw for 221 yards and a score on 22-of-32 passing, while also scoring a rush TD. Raleek Brown carried 21 times for 80 yards, and Derek Eusebio caught two balls for 78 yards to top the receivers.

TCU vs Arizona State Prediction

I’ll stick with TCU, but you could certainly make a case either way here. It should be a pretty fun matchup regardless of what happens. The Frogs had a nice offensive effort in their win over SMU last weekend, logging 517 yards (379 passing), 6.7 yards per play, 24 first downs and a 9-of-17 success rate on third-down conversions. The defense had a couple of interceptions and held the Mustangs to just 4-of-13 on third downs. TCU is scoring well these days with 35 or more points in all three games so far.

As for Arizona State, they took out a pretty strong Baylor team last weekend thanks to 40 yards (221 passing) and 26 first downs. The Sun Devils have scored 27 or more points in three of four games, so this one could be a pretty high total if both offenses show up.

Andrew Jett's Pick: TCU Horned Frogs +1.5
