Rhode Island Rams Betting Preview

The Rams have four games in the books so far this year, and overall they haven’t been playing too badly. Rhode Island took a season opener win at home versus Campbell, scratching out a 31-20 result. Game two versus Stony Brook was another victory, this time 31-17 on September 6. The Rams had a tough defensive battle versus Holy Cross, posting a field goal in the first, second and fourth quarters to eke out a 9-7 victory. Kicker Garth White was the star of the show, going 3-for-3 with a long of 41 yards.

In last weekend’s game versus LIU, the Rams didn’t have a ton of issues. Rhode Island eventually powered out a 28-7 victory. QB Devin Farrell was 19-of-32 on the day with 193 yards, two scores and an interception (and a rush TD). Antwain Littleton led the rush on 29 carries for 119 yards with a score, while Marquis Buchanan caught seven balls for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Western Michigan Broncos Betting Preview

Over on the Western Michigan side, they had some tough matchups right out of the gate this year and came up empty. The Broncos kicked things off with a road game versus Michigan State, eventually falling 23-6. Game two versus North Texas was much closer but still a loss, this time 33-30. In the road matchup against Illinois, Western Michigan couldn’t find the scoreboard and gave up 28 unanswered points in the second half during a shutout loss 38-0. The Broncos could muster only 204 total yards in that one alongside 12 first downs and a 3-of-14 success rate on third-down conversions.

Matched up against Toledo on Saturday, the Broncos were down 13-6 going into the final quarter but eventually powered out the win 14-13. Broc Lowry was 16-of-3 for 201 yards with a pick but also scored both touchdowns on 18 carries for 50 yards. Tailique Williams caught four balls for 112 yards as well.

Rhode Island vs Western Michigan Prediction

I’ll lean toward Rhode Island, but I’m probably not touching this one. The Rams looked pretty good versus LIU over the weekend holding the Sharks to 304 yards (101 passing), 16 first downs and 2-of-12 on third-down tries alongside a couple of interceptions. The Rams offense was pretty steady on 351 yards (193 passing) themselves with a 9-of-16 success rate on third-down conversions. The win gives the Rams four straight, with 28 or more points scored in three of those.

As for Western Michigan, they’re coming off a pretty ugly win. The Broncos defense gave up 191 rush yards, but held the Rockets to just 89 pass yards, 16 first downs and 5-of-18 on third-down tries alongside two interceptions. WMU gave away three turnovers themselves and averaged just 4.2 yards per play. All of that said, it was a gritty victory for the team’s first W of the year. Western Michigan’s offense does need a kick in the pants however, so I can’t really trust them to cover here. Still staying away in reality.
