A summary that ties it all together and produces a favorable betting outcome for the Rice vs Prairie View A&M game.

Big Game for Rice

This is a big game for Rice, and they come into this game with a 1-1 record. In the first game of the season, Rice was able to knock off Louisiana 14-12. In last game though, against Houston, it wasn’t as impressive, and they ended up losing 35-9. At the end of the first quarter they were tied 0-0, but the offense just didn’t score enough as they game went on, and that led to the defeat. Under center for Rice was Chase Jenkins and he completed 10 of his 12 passes for 50 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception.

Daelen Alexander finished with 10 carries for 55 yards. Quinton Jackson also rushed 15 times for 52 yards. The running game is clearly a strength, but they really need better quarterback play as the season goes on.

Why Rice Will Beat Prairie View A&M

  • Rice has won seven of its last nine home games in September.
  • Rice has covered the spread in each of its last three home games against non-FBS teams.

Prairie View A&M Has Been competitive

Prairie View A&M has been competitive to start the season, but they still currently sit with a 1-1 record. In the first game of the season they faced off against Texas Southern and they ended up winning 22-21. In the last game against UTRGV, Prairie View A&M scored 21 points, but the defense gave up 27 points. At the end of the first quarter they were down 17-0 and although they fought back, they still ended up falling short.

The Panthers used two different quarterbacks, and neither was all that dynamic. Cameron Peters completed 8 of his 16 passes for 64 yards. Tevin Carter completed 6 of his 10 passes for 48 yards. Only four different receivers caught passes. Jyzaiah Rockwell was the top receiver and he caught seven passes for 98 yards. In this game if they want a chance they are going to need to get out to a faster start. If it’s a slow start, this is going to be a very long game.

Why Prairie View A&M Will Beat Rice

  • Rice has lost each of its last four September games against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • Rice has failed to cover the spread in each of its last four September games against non-AP-ranked teams.

Prairie View A&M vs Rice Prediction

Prairie View A&M is trying to find their starting quarterback, and I don’t think they have the answer on the roster. Both played in the last game, and both really struggled to get the offense going here. For Rice, their offense hasn’t been great to start the season, and they are going to really struggle to get the offense going here. Rice and Prairie View A&M will maybe combine for 25 points total. These lower level games still have value, and this one has a ton of them. Back the under to cash.
