The North Texas Mean Green and the Indiana Hoosiers meet in week 1 college football action from Memorial Stadium on Saturday. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a North Texas Mean Green vs. Indiana Hoosiers Prediction.

North Texas Mean Green Team Preview

The North Texas Mean Green come into the 2026 season with a new look after a mass exodus from the 2025 team that went 12-2 overall including 7-1 in American Conference Play. The Mean Green would lose in the AAC title game to Tulane, 34-21, but would knock off San Diego State in the New Mexico Bowl, 49-47. Neal Brown takes over for Eric Morris, who took off to Stillwater to coach Oklahoma State. Tayven Jackson makes another stop on his passport after time at Tennessee, UCF and Indiana. Nick Osho (Indiana State) and Jahiem White (West Virginia) make up the tandem in North Texas’ backfield, but there’s still a lot to make up for with how many top talents from 2025’s squad went elsewhere. On defense, the team is filled with transfers, led by Udoka Ezeani who had 5 sacks and 11 TFLs for UTEP. Ja’Bree Bickham and CJ Coombes transfer in to help the secondary while Zakye Baker will lead the linebacking group.

Indiana Hoosiers Team Preview

The Indiana Hoosiers come into the 2026 campaign as your defending national champions, finishing the year unbeaten at 16-0 including a win over Ohio State, 13-10 in the Big Ten title game before knocking off Alabama, Oregon and Miami in the national title game on the road to lifting the national championship. Josh Hoover transfers in from TCU with a career 70-33 TD-INT ratio in his career to try to be the 2026 version of Fernando Mendoza. Charlie Becker is back to lead Indiana’s receiving group and the defense brings back more than half of their top 9 tacklers from last year, including leading tackler Rolijah Hardy, who had 102 tackles and 8 sacks last season.

North Texas Mean Green vs. Indiana Hoosiers Prediction

I’m on the over here. I think that the Mean Green have a tall task here especially since Curt Cignetti’s had a tendency to not let up and not take his foot off of the gas when his teams take on inferior competition. That being said, this is still a massive number and even if the Hoosiers get to this one on their own, I still think it ends up being high scoring. Give me the over.

Chris Ruffolo's Pick: Over 56.5
