North Texas Mean Green Betting Preview

North Texas kicked off the year with a couple of victories. The Mean Green beat South Alabama 52-38, then took out Stephen F. Austin 35-20. Game three was a loss 66-21 versus Texas Tech, but North Texas came back to beat Wyoming handily 44-17 the next week.

In game five versus Tulsa, North Texas secured another big win. The Green scored 24 points in the second quarter alone on the way to a 52-20 blowout. QB Chandler Morris finished with 439 yards and five scores. Blair Conwright caught two balls for 115 yards and a TD.

Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview

Over on the FAU side, they started out with a pair of losses to Michigan State 16-10 and Army 24-7. The Owls would beat FIU 38-20 for their first win on September 14, then lost another one to UConn 48-14 in game four.

Back on September 28 versus Wagner, the Owls didn’t have a lot of issues. Florida Atlantic scored double-digit points in three of four quarters for a 41-10 win. Cam Fancher threw for 150 yards and an interception. CJ Campbell led the rushing attack with 129 yards and two scores.

North Texas vs FAU Prediction

I’ll stay in North Texas. The Mean Green drilled Tulsa in their last outing, notching 618 total yards (439 passing) and 10.3 yards per play. There’s plenty to clean up, however, as North Texas went just 3-of-10 on third-down tries and had a whopping 14 penalties for 130 yards.

As for FAU, they gained 572 yards (315 rushing), 8.1 yards per play, and 29 first downs in their latest win versus an overmatched Wagner squad. The Owls coughed up three turnovers and had 12 penalties (90 yards) though, so their latest effort was also far from perfect. All things considered, this one should be a fun matchup but North Texas should have it if their passing game sticks around.

Andrew Jett's Pick: North Texas Mean Green -6.5
