North Dakota Fighting Hawks Betting Preview

The Hawks have three games in the can so far this year. First was the opener versus LIU. North Dakota didn’t have too many issues in that one, scoring all of their points in the first half during a 42-21 win. In game two versus St. Thomas-MN, the Hawks bagged 41 points in the first half and scored in every quarter during a 62-26 victory to go to 2-0 on the young season.

In game three versus Portland State, North Dakota got off to a nice start and went into the break with a 26-8 lead. The Hawks finished up with 21 points in the fourth quarter and logged the win 47-23 in the end. Jeremy Kaminski threw for 336 yards, three scores and a pick on 21-of-29 and Charles Langama led the rush with six carries for 83 yards along the way.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Betting Preview

Over on the Cornhuskers’ side, they were down early in their opener versus Ohio and went into halftime with a slim 14-13 lead. Nebraska got it together after that though, scoring 35 second-half points in a 49-21 win. QB Anthony Colandrea was 18-of-32 for 275 yards and three scores. Jamal Rule led the rushers on 15 carries for 122 yards and a pair of scores.

Matched up against Bowling Green for game two, Nebraska didn’t have too much trouble. The Cornhuskers scored 14 points in the first quarter and 21 more in the second, eventually cruising to a blowout win at home 56-7. Colandrea went 20-of-24 this time for 222 yards, four scores and a pick. Jamal Rule had eight carries for 88 yards and a touchdown as top rusher.

North Dakota vs Nebraska Prediction

I’ll probably take a stab on North Dakota here. The Hawks were able to hang 627 yards (291 rushing) on Portland State in their latest win, notching 9.2 yards per play and 28 first downs. Defensively North Dakota gave up 344 yards and 20 first downs, holding the Vikings to 4-of-13 on third-down tries. Granted, Nebraska is going to represent a big uptick in competition but I think North Dakota can get in there if all goes well.

As for the Huskers, they held Bowling Green to just 169 total yards (84 passing), 3.4 yards per play, nine first downs and 2-of-12 on third-down tries alongside a pair of takeaways. The offense cruised on 264 rush yards, 28 first downs and 8.3 yards per play. That makes a combined 105 points across two games for the Cornhuskers.
