In this article we will formulate a North Carolina Central vs Old Dominion prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 6th at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, Virginia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 2 matchup.

North Carolina Central Eagles Betting Preview

The North Carolina Central Eagles are 1-1 this year after they lost to New Hampshire by a score of 27-10 in their last game. North Carolina Central cut the deficit to 10-3 right before halftime, but they allowed 17 points in the second half and just couldn’t get the offense going in the loss. The Eagles were out gained by a total of 304-275, went 3-13 on third down conversions, and lost the turnover battle by a margin of 1-0 in the defeat. Walker Harris went 13-33 for 172 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, Chris Mosley rushed 19 times for 106 yards, and Mehki Wall caught one pass for 65 yards and a score in the game.

North Carolina Central did win their first game of the season by a score of 31-14 over Southern in week zero. The Eagles are scoring 23.5 points per game this year, but they really struggled with their passing attack last time out. Harris was just 13-33 on completions, which won’t get it done against an FBS team.

Old Dominion Monarchs Betting Preview

The Old Dominion Monarchs are 0-1 this season after they lost to Indiana by a score of 27-14 last week. Old Dominion led 7-0 in the first quarter, but they trailed 17-7 at halftime. The Monarchs failed to score in the third quarter, but they did cut the deficit to 27-14 with about seven minutes left, which was the last score of the game. Old Dominion was out gained by a total of 502-314, went 4-10 on third down conversions, and lost the turnover battle by a margin of 3-1 in the loss. Colton Joseph went 11-22 for 96 yards and three interceptions for the Monarchs in the game, while also rushing for 179 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Na’eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding led the Old Dominion receivers with four catches for 35 yards in the loss. The ODU defense recorded one sack and four tackles for loss in the defeat.

Old Dominion played very well against a Big Ten team in their opening game, which should instill some confidence and momentum into the team. The Monarchs did a great job of limiting points on defense, but the offense couldn’t find much success in the second or third quarter.

North Carolina Central vs Old Dominion Prediction

Old Dominion played their hearts out in week one against Indiana and while they are playing an easier opponent here, they have to focus and avoid a letdown. The Monarchs should be fine on defense in this matchup, but the offense needs to work on some things and get going. I will say the dual threat QB for Old Dominion is nice, but the passing game is going to be needed in conference play. North Carolina Central had issues last week against New Hampshire and it will be even worse here. Take Old Dominion to cover.

David Racey's Pick: Old Dominion ATS
