New Hampshire Wildcats Betting Preview

Last year New Hampshire had a pretty good regular season but their playoff hopes were dashed quickly. The Wildcats managed to go 8-5 overall with a 6-2 run in Coastal Athletic Association matchups. New Hampshire landed in third place behind Rhode Island and Villanova with that effort, also making their way into the FCS postseason. In the First Round matchup versus South Dakota State however, New Hampshire took a 41-3 blowout defeat.

The Wildcats opened up their season on August 28 versus Albany. In that matchup New Hampshire gave up 14 unanswered points in the second quarter and couldn’t make the comeback in a 28-14 loss. QB Brooks Bentley had 230 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-27 passing and Ja’Caree Kelly caught six balls for 123 yards and a score.

Syracuse Orange Betting Preview

Over on the Syracuse side, they opened up the 2025 campaign at 3-1 and by all indications were chugging along smoothly. The Orange finished off the year on an eight-game losing streak however, finishing dead last among the Atlantic Coast Conference. During an upset victory over Clemson, Syracuse QB Steve Angeli tore his Achilles tendon. That injury ended his season early and pretty much torpedoed any hopes the Orange had at contending.

Moving ahead to 2026, the Orange will have head coach Fran Brown back for his third year. He’ll be without a handful of key departed players including safety Devin Grant, DL Kevin Jobity and TE Dan Villari. On defense, the cornerback duo of Chris Peal and Demetres Samuel should help keep opposing pass-catchers in check.

New Hampshire vs Syracuse Prediction

I’ll just stick with Syracuse in this one. There aren’t a ton of expectations on the Orange this year; their over/under total usually hovers around four or five wins. Having Angeli back and healthy is huge, but Syracuse also has to contend with a ton of departures like Johntay Cook, Ysine Willis and Will Nixon. The schedule is no help, either. The Orange must face off against tricky teams like SMU, Clemson, Notre Dame and Louisville at home this season.

As for New Hampshire, they got demolished on the ground by Albany in their opener. The Wildcats D gave up a whopping 374 yards rushing with 6.1 yards per play and 26 first downs. The 11 team penalties and 3-of-11 result on third-down tries didn’t help either. I don’t have a lot of faith in New Hampshire after that.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Syracuse Orange -33.5
