The Miami (OH) RedHawks and Wisconsin Badgers meet Thursday in college football action at Camp Randall Stadium. Here’s a Miami (OH) vs Wisconsin Prediction. This article will include a Miami (OH) vs Wisconsin Pick.

Miami (OH) RedHawks Betting Preview

The Miami (OH) RedHawks have won a combined 20 games in the last two seasons and have made a bowl game in each of the last four years. Head coach Chuck Martin enters his 12th season.

Miami (OH) wasn’t good offensively last season and will look a lot different this season. Toledo and Baylor transfer quarterback Dequan Finn will take over, and he brings 7,300 passing yards and 66 touchdowns with him. The offensive line lost a lot of starters and the playmakers are gone as well. Deion Colzie comes over from Notre Dame, Darion Williams is a Florida State transfer and Keith Reynolds comes from Washington. There are a lot of new faces on this Miami offense.

Defensively, Miami (OH) returns four starters from a unit that was top-20 in the country. The secondary is the strongest area of this group, mainly due to a trio of Silas Walters, Eli Blakey, and Luke Evans. Linebacker Corban Hondru is coming off 70 tackles and three interceptions, while Adam Trick had 4.5 sacks last season. Miami (OH) is strong defensively and has talent on offense, it’s just a matter of things coming together. Miami (OH) has become a consistent contender in the MAC, and this year shouldn’t be any different.

Wisconsin Badgers Betting Preview

The Wisconsin Badgers won five games last season, missing a bowl appearance for the first time since the 2001 season. Wisconsin will enter its third season under coach Luke Fickell. Wisconsin hasn’t missed a won trip in back-to-back seasons since 1992.

Maryland transfer Billy Edwards Jr. will take over at quarterback, and he’s coming off a 2,800 yards season with 15 touchdowns. New offense coordinator Jeff Grimes is heavily focused on the run game and tight end play, which means we should see breakout seasons from Darrion Dupree and Tanner Koziol.

Defensively, Western Michigan transfer Corey Walker is a big addition after eight sacks and 15 tackles for loss in the last two seasons. Ricardo Hallman has superstar potential in the secondary after he had seven interceptions in 2023. Linebacker Jake Chaney has nearly 200 tackles for his career, and Christian Alliegro is coming off 66 tackles and three sacks last season. Wisconsin seems it wants to get back to its roots of a strong running game and defense. If Edwards can complete a high percentage of his passes and limit turnovers, Wisconsin will be a sneaky contender in the Big Ten.

Miami (OH) vs Wisconsin Prediction

Wisconsin is the big favorite at home because of the name, but this line is showing no respect to Miami (OH), an above-average team from the MAC. Miami (OH) has a quarterback who can lead the offense and while the defense is missing seven starters, there are players returning from a top-25 defense. Miami (OH) has covered six of its last nine games as a double-digit underdog. Wisconsin has failed to cover six of its last eight games as a double-digit favorite. I’ll grab the points with the Redhawks.

Randy Chambers's Pick: Miami (OH) +17.5
