In this article we will formulate a Georgia State vs Ole Miss prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, August 30th at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 1 matchup.

Georgia State Panthers Betting Preview

The Georgia State Panthers were 3-9 (1-7) last year and they finished seventh in the SBC East standings, and they had the second worst record in the whole conference. Georgia State started the season with a 2-1 record, but they finished by losing eight of their last nine games. The Panthers picked up wins against Chattanooga, Vanderbilt, and Texas State, while they lost to Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, Marshall, Appalachian State, UConn, James Madison, Arkansas State, and Coastal Carolina. Georgia State scored 23.8 points per game last year, which was ranked 98th in the nation, while they allowed 33.8 points against per game, which was ranked 117th.

This season, Georgia State does have a quarterback battle in camp, so we will see who is the starter and if they will play more than one QB. The Panthers lost their leading running back from 2024, but they did bring in plenty of backs in the portal. Georgia State does return their leading receiver, which will be a big help, but the offensive line is a bit of an unknown. On defense, Georgia State was one of the worst units in the FBS last year, and they may have a similar season in 2025. This Panthers defense is very young, but they need to show major improvement from last year.

Ole Miss Rebels Betting Preview

The Ole Miss Rebels went 10-3 (5-3) last season and they finished tied for fourth in the SEC standings with Missouri, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, and Texas A&M. Ole Miss played very well in 2024, but they lost their first conference game to a bad Kentucky team, which didn’t give them any breathing room the rest of the way. The Rebels got wins against Furman, MTSU, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi State, while they lost to Kentucky, LSU, and Florida. Ole Miss went to the Gator Bowl, where they beat Duke by a score of 52-20. The Rebels scored 38.6 points per game last year, which was 3rd in the FBS, while they allowed 14.4 points against per game, which was 2nd.

This season, Ole Miss will have a new quarterback, Austin Simmons, but it remains to be seen if he has the weapons to succeed in this offense. The Rebels did lose a lot at receiver, but they brought in a few great pieces from the portal. The offensive line has some question marks and the running backs are new, so they are going to rely on Simmons heavily throughout the year. On defense, Ole Miss was one of the best teams in the country last year, but they lost most of their starters. The Rebels have four transfers in the secondary and a bunch of new faces on the defensive line, so it will be interesting to see how they play together.

Georgia State vs Ole Miss Prediction

Ole Miss is obviously a huge favorite in this game, but they do have some question marks coming into the season. I think this is a great opponent to start with, as the Georgia State defense is not good, so the offense should move the ball. On the other side, the Panthers do have an experienced quarterback and with all of the new pieces on the Ole Miss defense, I think they can get to 20. Take the over here.
