Marshall Thundering Herd Betting Preview

Over on the Marshall side, they’ve had an up-and down year. The Herd lost their first pair versus Georgia and Missouri State, then it a 4-1 run with a lone OT loss to Louisiana. Otherwise it was wins over Eastern Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion and Texas State in that quintet. Since then however, Marshall has a lone win over Georgia State. Georgia Southern vs Marshall Prediction

I’ll take a stab on Marshall I suppose. I’m probably staying away from this one, though. The Herd shot themselves in the foot during the loss to App State last weekend thanks to three turnovers and a spotty 5-of-12 on third downs. Otherwise it was a pretty good effort, as Marshall posted 433 yards, 233 rush yards, 6.2 yards per play and 23 first downs. The defense came up with a nice effort as well on 276 yards, 17 first downs and 3.9 yards per play allowed. Marshall has given up 26 or more points in four of the last five games, losing three of those.

As for Georgia Southern, they couldn’t find much room on offense versus Old Dominion. The Eagles notched just 249 yards with 4.1 yards per play, 13 first downs and 4-of-14 on third downs. The defense was overwhelmed on 551 yards, 376 rush yards, 6.9 yards per play and 32 first downs. This won’t be too bad of a matchup if both teams play to their capabilities.
