Charlotte 49ers Betting Preview

The 49ers kicked off the year on a 1-2 run with losses to App State and North Carolina before a win over Monmouth. Charlotte then hit the skids, falling versus Rice, South Florida, Army, Temple, North Texas and East Carolina from there. In the loss to the Pirates 48-22 on November 8, Charlotte gave up 407 total yards, 4.6 yards per play and 29 first downs on defense. The offense generated 324 yards on the other side with just 13 first downs, 4-of-14 on third-down conversion attempts and a couple of turnovers for the 49ers in the loss.

In last weekend’s game versus UTSA, the Niners went into the fourth quarter with a two-touchdown deficit. Charlotte didn’t end up getting any closer, eventually losing 28-7 in the end. QB Grayson Loftis was 13-of-24 for 100 yards, and Cameren Smith had nine carries for 37 yards as the lead rusher. Tops in receiving was Javen Nicholas with six catches for 45 yards for the 49ers in the losing effort.

Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview

Over on the Georgia side, they beat Marshall, Austin Peay and Tennessee in their first three before a loss to Alabama. From there came wins over Kentucky, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida and Mississippi State in the next five. In the 41-21 outcome over Mississippi State, Georgia notched 21 points in the second quarter alone. The offense put up 567 total yards, 303 rush yards, 7.7 yards per play and 30 first downs along the way. Charlotte vs Georgia Prediction

I’ll stick with Georgia, but I’m probably not touching this one. On paper, this game looks like a blowout where the only question is the Bulldogs’ margin of victory. Last weekend versus a good Texas team, Georgia put up 357 total yards, 5.6 yards per play and 21 first downs but could have been better on third-down tries (4-of-11). The defense gave up 274 yards, 23 rush yards, 15 first downs and 2-of-12 on third downs. The Bulldogs have scored 24 or more points in four straight games and they’ve got 76 combined points in their last pair.

As for Charlotte, they couldn’t do much offensively versus UTSA last weekend. The Niners notched just 197 yards, 51 rush yards, 3.4 yards per play, 13 first downs and 6-of-15 on third-down tries. The defense gave up 521 yards and 29 first downs on the other side. Charlotte has been below 23 points in five straight games, and it’s not going to be easy for them to find the scoreboard in this one. Georgia should roll, and the line is going to be huge pretty much everywhere.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Georgia Bulldogs -44.5
