Campbell Fighting Camels Betting Preview

Campbell has five games in the books so far this year, generating a losing record along the way. The Camels lost their first three outings of the season, dropping to Rhode Island 31-20, East Carolina 56-3 and Furman 28-24. The Bryant matchup on September 20 turned out to be Campbell’s first victory of the year, but it didn’t come easily. The Camels needed two overtime periods in order to eke out a 50-48 win.

Back on Saturday versus Western Carolina, the Camels gave up points in every quarter—including 21 points in the second alone—on the way to a 42-35 loss. Campbell got better in the second half but it wasn’t enough to recover. QB Taron Dickens threw for 427 yards and four scores on 25-of-40 passing, while Camury Reid had 11 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown of his own. Tops in receiving was James Tyre with six receptions for 101 yards, and Painter Richards-Baker added five grabs for 99 yards and a touchdown.

NC State Wolfpack Betting Preview

Over on the NC State side, they conversely were able to secure victories in each of their first three games. The Wolfpack beat East Carolina 24-17, then eked past Virginia 35-31 before dispatching Wake Forest 34-24. Back on September 20 NC State took their first defeat of the season versus Duke, losing that one on the road 45-33. The Wolfpack offense gained 535 yards (364 passing) with 7.2 yards per play, 26 first downs and a solid 7-of-12 on third downs but also had four turnovers. On defense NC State gave up 418 yards and 22 first downs while failing to register a takeaway.

Matched up against Virginia Tech over the weekend, the Wolfpack went into the final quarter with a 20-14 deficit and couldn’t close the gap in a tough 23-21 loss at home. QB CJ Bailey finished 26-of-34 for 240 yards and a couple of scores, and Daylan Smothers was the leading team rusher in the losing effort with 16 carries for 67 yards. Terrell Anderson added four catches for 65 yards to lead the team in that department.

Campbell vs North Carolina State Prediction

I’ll lean toward NC State but I’m probably not touching this one. The Wolfpack couldn’t get much going on offense in their loss to Virginia Tech, totaling 299 yards (59 rushing), 4.5 yards per play, 18 first downs and 6-of-14 on third-down tries. Defensively NC State had issues with the run, giving up 229 yards on the ground alongside 6.2 yards per play and 7-of-15 on third downs. Still, the team was in position to steal a win down the stretch. NC State has scored pretty well this year, with 21 or more points in every game and 34 or more in three of five outings. This matchup should be pretty favorable for scoring as well.

As for Campbell, they’ve put up a combined 85 points in their last two games but they’ve also given up a combined 90 points in that pair. We could have a fairly high total here.
