In this article, we will formulate a Charlotte vs North Carolina prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 7th at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this Week 2 matchup.
Charlotte 49ers Betting Preview
The Charlotte 49ers are 0-1 this season after they lost to James Madison by a score of 30-7 in their first game. Charlotte scored a touchdown early in the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead, but they failed to score any more points in the loss. Charlotte was outgained by a total of 417-324 and they turned the ball over three times in the loss. The 49ers were 7-19 on third down and just 2-5 on fourth down in the game. Max Brown threw for 193 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while Terron Kellman rushed for 76 yards on nine carries.
Charlotte looked to be in very good shape in the second quarter against JMU, but they couldn’t get anything going in the second half. On the positive side, the 49ers defense did play pretty well and held JMU to just 16 points in the first three quarters.
North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Preview
The North Carolina Tar Heels are 1-0 this year after they beat Minnesota by a score of 19-17 in their first game. North Carolina trailed 14-7 at halftime, but they scored the next nine points to take a 16-14 lead in the fourth. Minnesota answered with a field goal, but North Carolina came back to reclaim the lead with a field goal of their own with 1:44 left. The Golden Gophers drove down and had a chance to get the win, but they missed the field goal as time expired. North Carolina outgained Minnesota by a total of 252-244 and they went 8-16 on third down in the game. Max Johnson threw for 71 yards and one interception, but he is out with an injury now. Omarion Hampton rushed for 129 yards on 30 carries, while JJ Jones caught three passes for 52 yards in the win.
North Carolina was able to survive and advance in their first game of the season, but the offense did not look very good. On top of that poor effort, the Tar Heels starting quarterback is now out for the season. The Tar Heels do have a very solid rushing attack, which they are going to lean on.
Charlotte vs North Carolina Prediction
North Carolina comes into this matchup as a pretty big favorite to get the win, but they will be going with their backup quarterback here. The Tar Heels will continue to lean on Hampton in the rushing game and they should be able to move the ball pretty easily against this Charlotte defense. On the other side, the North Carolina defense played very well against Minnesota and they should make it very difficult on the Charlotte offense. I am slightly concerned about the quarterback situation for UNC, but I am still going to take them to win big.
