Delaware State Hornets Betting Preview
The Delaware State Hornets went 1-10 last season, and they are opening up with a very tough matchup here. Delaware State did face two FBS teams last season, which included a 57-0 loss at Army and a 62-20 loss at Miami (OH). The Hornets did defeat Virginia-Lynchburg by a score of 48-10 in late September, which was their only win of the season. Delaware State is expected to be one of the worst teams in the FCS this year, but at least this is the only FBS opponent they will face.
The Hornets do return their leading quarterback and running back from last season, so the offense should be at least slightly better. Marqui Adams threw for 1,452 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions last season, while also rushing for 278 yards and one score. Marquis Gillis rushed for 732 yards and five touchdowns on 143 carries. Gillis rushed for 133, 84, and 81 yards in his last three games in 2023, so he does have some momentum coming into this season.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Betting Preview
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors were 5-8 in 2023, which started with a week 0 loss to Vanderbilt by a score of 35-28 in a very entertaining game. Hawaii did pick up wins against Albany (31-20), New Mexico State (20-17), Nevada (27-14), Air Force (27-13), and Colorado State (27-24), with three of those four wins coming in November. The Rainbow Warriors finished the 2023 season on the right foot, and they played much better defense down the stretch. Hawaii allowed at least 35 points in seven of their first nine games, but they held their opponents to 24 points or fewer in three of their last four.
Hawaii does return quarterback Brayden Schager, who threw for 3,542 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions last year, but he only threw three interceptions in the final five games. The Hawaii offense will be centered around Schager and the passing game, but they should have plenty of opportunity to run the ball after taking a big lead here.

Delaware State does have some important returning players this season, but I don’t see how they are going to hang with Hawaii here. The Rainbow Warriors should control both lines of scrimmage, and they should move the ball with little problem. The only concern that I have is here is if Hawaii really takes it easy in the second half, but I also know they will want to take advantage, rotating plenty of players in. We saw Delaware State allow 57 and 62 points against FBS teams last year, and I don’t think it will be much better here. My Delaware State vs Hawaii prediction is for the Rainbow Warriors to win easily and cover.
