Texas A&M Aggies Preview

Texas A&M wrapped up the regular season at 7-5 in the SEC standings after losing to LSU in Baton Rouge, 42-30. The Aggies couldn’t hold off the Tigers in the fourth quarter, and they’ll look for different results here versus their former conference foes. The A&M offense is scoring 34.2 ppg, while passing for 262.3 ypg, rushing for 141.4 ypg, and converting 43.9% of their third downs.

Texas A&M Team Notes

  • Jaylen Henderson played well statistically against LSU despite the final result, going 25/35 for a season-best 294 yards, with two scores to a pick. The former Fresno State QB was thrusted into the lineup after Max Johnson suffered an injury, and he’s 2-1 as the starter. Henderson has thrown for 704 yards, with six touchdowns to two interceptions, and he’s adfrd 104 yards on the ground through three contests.
  • Sophomore back Le’Veon Moss has scored in three of his last five games, and he’s up to 484 yards on 96 carries.
  • Veteran wideout Ainias Smith caught a season-high eight passes in the loss to LSU, and he leads A&M in receptions (53) and receiving yards (795).
  • The A&M defense is allowing 21.3 points per game.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Preview

Oklahoma State moved to 9-4 after losing to Texas in the Big 12 Championship, 49-21. The Cowboys weren’t able to overcome a slow start, and they’ll look to bounce back here against a familiar face. Oklahoma State Team Notes

  • Alan Bowman managed to toss three scores in the loss to Texas, but it ultimately wasn’t enough. The former Michigan QB has been solid behind center this season, but this may just mark the toughest defense he’s faced yet. Bowman has passed for 3,058 yards, and 13 touchdowns to 12  interceptions thru 13 starts.

Texas A&M vs Oklahoma State Prediction

This Texas Bowl matchup will see two physical squads face off, and I have a good feeling about the mullet coming into this one. Texas A&M is moving through a new regime on the fly, so while this game will be big for what they intend to do next season, the lack of continuity may cost them here against a veteran team looking to avenge a title game loss to Texas. Let’s lean on their strong ground game, and spot Oklahoma State the points for this former Big 12 clash. In combination with a few other Bowl games, this one can be used in a parlay.
