The UCF Knights and Texas Tech Red Raiders face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Jones A&T Stadium.
Texas Tech Coming Off Big Win
Texas Tech comes into this game with a 5-5 record overall and in the last game they were able to secure a solid victory over the Kansas Jayhawks. They got to face a third string quarterback for most of the game, but the defense did exactly what they should do in that position and they were able to secure the 16-13 victory. Under center for Texas Tech was Behren Morton and he completed 19 of his 25 passes for 176 yards, one interception, and zero touchdowns. Running back Tahj Brooks was dynamic putting up 133 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The Red Raiders are averaging 29.1 points while their defense is giving up 24.4 points per game.

UCF Figuring it Out
UCF hasn’t exactly had the best season, but it looks like they are finally figured it out. Two games ago against Cincinnati, UCF was able to secure a 28-26 victory and in the last game against Oklahoma State they were able to secure a 45-3 victory. John Rhys Plumlee had a strong game putting up 299 yards and three touchdowns. Javon Baker also caught four passes for 112 yards. Central Florida on the season is averaging 34 points while their defense is giving up 26.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 25th in the league and they are going to need the offense to be good here.
UCF Betting Trends
- The underdog has won four of UCF's last six games.
- UCF has failed to cover the spread in each of its last five games against non-AP-ranked teams.
- Five of UCF's last six games against non-AP-ranked teams have gone OVER the total points line.
Shane’s Free Pick
Central Florida is going to find success here. Even though Texas Tech won the last game, I’m not super impressed with what they did. The offense had issues finding the end zone and that led to them only putting up 16 points. John Rhys Plumlee is going to have a big game here for UCF and the Knights are going to find plenty of success scoring here. I think UCF can win this game, but we will take the points. Back Central Florida against the spread.
