Indiana Hoosiers Preview
Indiana dropped to 3-6 after defeating Wisconsin in Bloomington by six, 20-14. The Hoosiers held onto a slim halftime lead to snap a four-game skid, and they’ll now look to win consecutive games for the first time this season. The Indiana offense is scoring 20.8 ppg, while passing for 224.0 ypg, rushing for 110.2 ypg, and converting 40% of their third downs.
IU Player Notes
Brendan Sorsby quarterbacked a solid game last week, going 19/31 for 186 yards and a score. The Denton native managed to toss three touchdowns on the road against Penn State, so he may be ready for this matchup here on the road. Sorsby has thrown for 875 yards with seven touchdowns to one interception through seven games.
Wake transfer Christian Turner has reached the 60-yes mark in back-to-back contests, and he’s up to 177 rushing yards on 40 carries.
Donaven McCulley has scored in three of the last four games, and he leads the wideout room in receptions (29) and receiving yards (387).
The Indiana defense has allowed 24.4 points per game.
Illinois Fighting Illini Preview
Illinois moved to 4-5 after defeating Minnesota in Minneapolis by one, 27-26. The Fighting Illini used a last minute touchdown to get back into the win column, and they’ll look to double down here against Indiana. The Illinois offense is scoring 20.4 ppg, while passing for 226.0 ypg, rushing for 139.5 ypg, and converting 34% of their third downs.
Illinois Player Notes
Luke Altmyer had his best game of the season versus Minnesota, going 24/31 for 212 yards with three touchdowns to a pick. The Starkville native finally came through with a winning effort, and he’ll look to double down here at home. Altmyer has thrown for 1,883 yards, with 13 touchdowns to 10 interceptions thru nine starts.
Freshman back Kaden Feagin has scored in the consecutive games, and he leads the Illini in rushing with 329 yards on 67 touches.
St. Louis native Isaiah Williams leads Illinois in receptions (46) and receptions (562).
The Illinois defense has allowed 27.7 points per game.
Illinois vs Indiana Trends
IND is 4-5 against the spread, with a 3-6 O/U record.
ILL is 4-5 ATS, with a 4-5 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Illinois and Indiana find themselves hanging in the bottom half of the Big Ten, but after both pulling off solid conference wins last week, we should be in for a good game here. I like Bret Bielema’s team in this spot at home, as the Hoosiers have struggled offensively all season, and the Illini should be able to capitalize on that. While I like Illinois pulling this one out at home, this could wind up being a low-scoring battle, and the Under may just bring more security here.
