The Auburn Tigers will travel to Fayetteville to face the Arkansas Razorbacks in SEC play this weekend from Reynolds Stadium on the SEC Network.

Auburn enters at 5-4 after defeating Vanderbilt in Nashville, 31-15. The Tigers capitalized on the light matchup with Vandy to jump above .500, and they’ll now look to become bowl-eligible here in Fayetteville. The Auburn offense is scoring 27.2 ppg,, while passing for 155.8 ypg, rushing for 191.5 ypg, and converting 33.3% of their third downs.
Auburn Player Notes
Payton Thorne had a solid performance versus Vandy, going 17/27 for 194 yards with two touchdowns to a pick. The former Michigan State QB simply hasn’t been able to push the ball down the field this season, and it’s unlikely things change at this point in the season. Thorne has thrown for 745 yards with four touchdowns to four interceptions, and he’s rushed for 225 yards and a pair of scores thru six games.
Junior back Jarquez Hunter has found the endzone in three of the last four games, and he leads the Tigers with 218 rushing yards.
Sophomore wideout Jay Fair leads the Tigers in receptions (21) and receiving yards (232).
The Auburn defense has allowed 18.2 points per game.
Arkansas Razorbacks Preview
Arkansas comes in at 3-6 after defeating Florida in Gainesville by three, 39-36. The Hogs finally found a reason to smile after pinning their first conference win, and they’ll surely look to double down here at home. The Arkansas offense is scoring 27.9 ppg, while passing for 215.6 ypg, rushing for 126.6 ypg, and converting 44.1% of their third downs.

KJ Jefferson had his best game of the season in the Swamp, passing for 255 yards, rushing for 92 more, and totaling three touchdowns. The senior quarterback’s season has been altered by tough SEC competition, but there’s still a chance for them to become bowl eligible with a strong close to the season. Jefferson has thrown for 1,802 yards, with 16 touchdowns to eight interceptions, and he’s rushed for 292 yards and a pair of score.
Senior wideout Andrew Armstrong scored against the Aggies, and he leads Arkansas in receptions (26), receiving yards (351), and touchdowns (4).
The Arkansas defense is allowing 25.0 points per game.

Auburn’s expectations weren’t that high heading into the season, but the same can’t be said for Arkansas. After getting K.J. Jefferson to return to school, the Hogs haven’t been able to follow through with a respectable season, and I believe they’ll come out with something to play for here. With three home games remaining, the Razorbacks still have a shot to become bowl eligible, but they have to win out, and that starts here against Auburn.
