The Alabama Crimson Tide will make the trip to Lexington to meet the Kentucky Wildcats in SEC play this weekend from Kroger Field
Kentucky Wildcats Preview
Alabama moved to 8-1 after beating LSU at home, 42-28. The Crimson Tide struck revenge for last season’s defeat, and they’ll attempt to win an eighth straight game this weekend. The Bama offense is scoring 31.9 ppg, while passing for 219.4 ypg, rushing for 140.9 ypg, and converting 39% of their third downs.
Alabama Player Notes
Jalen Milroe had a big game with his legs against LSU, going for 155 yards and four touchdowns, while also passing for 219 yards. The sophomore QB has naturally endured new growing pains behind center this season, but he’s been very sharp since a home loss to Texas, and UK’s going to get his best here. Milroe has passed for 1,836 yards with 13 touchdowns to five interceptions this season.
Senior back Jase McClellan has scored in four of six games, and he leads the Tide in rushing yards (632), with five touchdowns.
Veteran wideout Jermaine Burton leads Bama in receiving yards (537), on 26 catches.
The Bama defense has allowed 17.7 points per game.
Kentucky Wildcats Preview
Kentucky moved to 6-3 after losing to Mississippi State in Starkville, 24-3. The Wildcats capitalized on the matchup to stop the bleeding, and they’ll now look to lock on a signature win here against Bama. The UK offense is scoring 30.8 ppg, while passing for 218.6 ypg, rushing for 144.8 ypg, and converting 39% of their third downs.
Kentucky Player Notes
Devin Leary followed up his best start of the season by delivering winning results in Mississippi, passing 156 yards and two scores. The former N.C. State QB has now tossed multiple touchdowns in four straight games, and he’ll look to lead UK to an upset here as host. Leary has passed for 1,749 yards with 16 touchdowns to seven interceptions this season.
Senior back Ray Davis gained 85 yards in the win over the Bulldogs, and he leads the Wildcats in rushing yards (903), with 14 total touchdowns (9 rush, 5 rec).
Lexington native Dane Key scored in consecutive games, and he now leads UK in receiving yards with 431 on 28 catches
The UK defense has allowed 24.5 points per game.
Alabama vs Kentucky Trends
BAMA is 5-3 against the spread, with a 5-3 O/U record.
UK is 4-3-1 ATS, with a 4-4 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
This may wind up being Kentucky’s final chance to spoil someone’s season, and I believe they’ll show up for this contest in the Bluegrass. This season has gone south in conference play for the Wildcats, but this matchup on their home turf is doable due to both teams leaning on a physical approach. I do believe Alabama keeps their slim CFB Playoff hopes alive, but let’s spot Kentucky the points at home for this SEC battle.
