The UConn Huskies will play the Tennessee Volunteers in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. UConn only has one win on the season, while Tennessee has won four of their last five games.

UConn Preview

The UConn Huskies are 1-7 this year after they lost to Boston College by a score of 21-14 in their last game. UConn led 7-0 in the first quarter, but BC scored the next 21 points for the win. The Huskies were out gained by a total of 433-222, but they did force two turnovers. UConn’s lone win came against Rice by a score of 38-31 a few weeks ago. The UConn offense is averaging 19.8 points per game with 181 passing yards per game and 134.9 rushing yards per game, while going 38.5% on third downs. Ta’Quan Roberson has thrown for 1,275 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions for the Huskies this season. Victor Rosa (questionable) has rushed for 405 yards and two touchdowns, while Cameron Ross has caught 31 passes for 338 yards and one score. The UConn defense is giving up 29.3 points against per game this year.

Tennessee Preview

The Tennessee Volunteers are 6-2 (3-2) this season after they defeated Kentucky by a score of 33-27 in their last game. Tennessee led 23-17 at the half and they were able to hold off Kentucky’s comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. The Volunteers out gained Kentucky by a total of 481-444 and forced two turnover on downs. Tennessee lost the previous game to Alabama by a score of 34-20, but did win the three games prior to that. The Tennessee offense is scoring 31.8 points per game with 221.8 passing yards per game and 221.8 rushing yards per game, while going 43.5% on third downs. Joe Milton III has thrown for 1,763 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions for the Volunteers this year. Jaylen Wright has rushed for 713 yards and two touchdowns, while Squirrel White has caught 44 passes for 463 yards and one score. Tennessee Volunteers Team Facts

  • Tennessee has won each of its last 12 games against non-AP-ranked teams at Neyland Stadium.
  • Tennessee has covered the spread in seven of its last eight games at Neyland Stadium.
  • Tennessee has won the first half in each of its last eight games against non-conference opponents.
  • Tennessee has won the first quarter in 18 of its last 21 games against non-conference opponents.
  • Each of Tennessee's last four November games at Neyland Stadium have gone OVER the total points line.

Connecticut Huskies Team Facts

  • Connecticut has lost each of its last 11 road games in November.
  • Connecticut has covered the spread in five of its last six road games against non-conference opponents.
  • Seven of Connecticut's last eight road games against AP-ranked teams have gone OVER the total points line.

Tennessee comes into this game as a huge favorite to win against a UConn team that only has one win this season. Tennessee is ranked in the Top 25 and they have a very solid offensive attack. UConn is allowing almost 30 points per game and over 400 yards per game on defense, so I expect a huge day from this Tennessee offense. I don’t love either side in this game, as Tennessee may very well treat it similar to a bye week, but I am going to take the under here. I think Tennessee will pull most of their starters early and coast to the finish line. Take the under here.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
