The Iowa Hawkeyes and Northwestern Wildcats face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Wrigley Field.
Brian Ferentz Gone After Season
The Iowa Hawkeyes got some good and bad news this week. It was announced that after the season Brian Ferentz won’t be the offensive coordinator anymore. The bad news for Iowa though is he will be still with the team for the rest of the season, which means this offense is probably going to continue to be awful. Iowa’s offense has been awful all season and in the last game against the Gophers they lost 12-10. Deacon Hill completed 10 of his 28 passes for 116 yards, one interception, and zero touchdowns. Iowa is averaging 19.5 points while their defense is giving up 14.5 points per game.
Northwestern Only Two Wins Away from Bowl Game
Heading into the season many believed Northwestern would be one of the worst teams in college football, but they somehow have won four games. Northwestern scored 33 points against Maryland and that was enough for the six point victory. Brendan Sullivan had a strong game completing 16 of his 23 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Northwestern is averaging 21.8 points while their defense is giving up 26 points per game.
Shane’s Free Pick
It might be a bit of a sweat, but this game is going to go over the total. Northwestern scored 33 points in the last game and they are going to find success scoring again here. I do think Iowa will get a better game from Hill here, and Iowa is going to sore at least 24 points here. At some point Iowa’s offense is going to need to start scoring and this is going to be that game. Back the over to cash.
