The TCU Horned Frogs will play the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a Big 12 game on Thursday night at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas. TCU has lost three of their last four games, while Texas Tech has dropped two games in a row.

TCU Preview

The TCU Horned Frogs are 4-4 (2-3) this season after they lost to Kansas State by a score of 41-3 in their last game. TCU trailed 21-3 at the end of the first quarter and they weren’t able to score any more points in the loss. The Horned Frogs were out gained by a total of 587-300 and went 2-13 on third downs in the game. TCU did defeat BYU by a score of 44-11 in the game before Kansas State, but they lost to Iowa State and West Virginia in the two games prior to that. The TCU offense is scoring 29.4 points per game with 289.5 passing yards per game and 175.4 rushing yards per game, while going 44.2% on third downs. Josh Hoover has thrown for 795 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions for the Horned Frogs this season. Emani Bailey has rushed for 851 yards and two touchdowns, while JP Richardson has caught 30 passes for 420 yards and two scores. The TCU defense is allowing 23 points against per game this season.

Texas Tech Preview

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 3-5 (2-3) this year after they lost to BYU by a score of 27-14 in their last game. Texas Tech trailed 24-7 at the half and they never really had a chance in the second half. The Red Raiders out gained BYU by a total of 389-277 and turned the ball over five times in the loss. Texas Tech has been a mess this season, as they have rotated through a few quarterbacks and have had major turnover issues. The Texas Tech offense is averaging 29.9 points per game with 231.4 passing yards per game and 176 rushing yards per game, while going 42.1% on third downs. Behren Morton (probable) has thrown for 696 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions for the Red Raiders this year. Tahj Brooks has rushed for 891 yards and six scores, while Myles Price has caught 33 passes for 331 yards and four touchdowns. The Texas Tech defense is giving up 25.4 points against per game this year.

Texas Tech Red Raiders Team Facts

  • Texas Tech has won each of its last four November home games against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • Texas Tech has covered the spread in four of its last five games in November.
  • Each of Texas Tech's last five games against conference opponents at Jones AT&T Stadium have gone OVER the total points line.

TCU Horned Frogs Team Facts

  • TCU has won each of its last four games at Jones AT&T Stadium.
  • TCU has failed to cover the spread in eight of its last nine games as an underdog against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • Each of TCU's last four road games against non-AP-ranked teams have gone UNDER the total points line.

Pick

Both of these teams have had plenty of issues so far this season, but both are still pushing to make a bowl game. Texas Tech has rotated through three different quarterbacks due to injuries, but they have thrown way too many interceptions as a team. The Red Raiders have also allowed 27 and 38 points in their last two games, so they have struggled on both sides of the ball recently. TCU was just blown out by Kansas State, but they did beat BYU by a score of 44-11, while Texas Tech lost to the Cougars. I really don’t trust either of these two teams, but I have liked what I have seen from Morton when he has been healthy, so I will take Texas Tech here.
