The West Virginia Mountaineers and TCU Horned Frogs face off on Saturday in a Week 5 college football showdown at
TCU Looks for Fourth Straight Win
TCU lost the first game of the season by three points to Colorado, but since that point they have won three straight games. Two games ago against Houston, TCU was able to secure the 36-13 victory and in the last game against SMU they were able to secure the 34-17. In the last game quarterback Chandler Morris completed 23 of his 32 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns. Emani Bailey finished with 25 carries for 126 yards and a touchdown. TCU is averaging 38.3 points while their defense is giving up 20.3 runs per game. The offense is ranked 23rd and is going to need to be strong again here.
West Virginia Looks for Fourth Win
West Virginia lost the first game of the season against Penn State, but since that point they have won three games in a row. Over the last two games against Pittsburgh and Texas Tech the defense gave up only 19 points. West Virginia has won three games in a row but the offense hasn’t been exactly elite. West Virginia is averaging 27 points while their defense is giving up 18.5 points per game. The offense is ranked 81st in the league while the defense is ranked 33rd in college football. Under center for West Virginia for this game will be Nicco Marchiol as starting quarterback Garrett Greene is out with a foot injury .
Shane’s Free Pick
I am not sold on Marchiol and he’s going to struggle here. Morris threw for three touchdowns in the last game and he’s going to have no issue running up the score here. TCU is going to get close to 40 points. West Virginia’s defense is good, but they haven’t faced an offense like TCU here. West Virginia is going to have some major issues struggling to get the offense going and that is going to be the difference here as TCU is going to get the job done here. Back TCU against the spread.
Shane’s Pick TCU -14.5
