Iowa Faces Big Test
Iowa comes into this game with a 3-0 record but they haven’t been all that impressive overall, and this should be a great test to see what kind of team they actually have. In the last game against Western Michigan they were only up by four points at half, but they pulled away in the second half and ended up winning 41-10. Iowa is averaging 28.3 points while their defense is giving up 12.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 74th in the league while the pitching is ranked 18th. Under center for Iowa is Cade McNamara and he hasn’t been good this season. Overall he has thrown for 417 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Is Penn State a National Title Contender?
Penn State has had a perfect start to the season and many believe they could compete for a National Championship this season. Penn State’s offense has been good, but even more impressive has been the defense. They gave up only 15 points to West Virginia and 13 points to Illinois. Penn State is averaging 43.7 points while their defense is giving up 11.7 points per ger game. The offense is ranked 14th in college football while the defense is ranked 13th. Under center for Penn State is Drew Allar and he has thrown for 737 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Shane’s Free Pick
I don’t think Iowa is going to win this game, but they are going to make this game ugly, and that will allow them to keep it close enough to cover the spread. Iowa knows to find success in this game they are going to need keep the ball on the ground and control the tempo of the game. They are going to really eat clock in this game. I do think Iowa’s defense is also going to step up enough, and make life tough on the Penn State offense. Back Iowa to cover the spread here.
