The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and UAB Blazers face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at Protective Stadium.
Louisiana Comeback Comes Just Short
Louisiana comes into this game with a 1-1 record overall but they are coming off a loss in the last game. Louisiana faced off against Old Dominion and they outscored them 14-7 in the 4th quarter, but it wasn’t enough as they ended up losing 38-31. In the first game against Northwestern State, Louisiana was able to secure a 38-13 victory. Against Old Dominion, Louisiana was led by Ben Wooldrige and he completed 25 of his 36 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns. Jacob Bernard also caught three passes for 70 yards. In this game the defense is going to need to step up in a big way.
UAB Looks to Bounce Back
On the other side of this matchup is UAB who sit with a 1-1 record, but they are coming off a very disappointing loss in the last game. UAB’s defense was awful against Georgia Southern, giving up 49 points and that led to the 14 point defeat. At the end of the first quarter they were down 14-0 and although they tried to fight back, it wasnt enough. Under center for UAB is Jacob Zeno and he completed 33 of his 45 passes for 385 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. In this game if UAB wants to come away with the victory, the defense is going to need to step up in a big way. If the defense struggles, this is going to be a long game.
Shane’s Free Pick
This game is going to be a higher scoring game. UAB in the last game scored 35 points while the defense gave up 49 points. In this game, UAB’s offense is going to run up the score here, but their defense is going to really struggle again here. Louisiana is going to also have no issue running up the score here, and this game is going to be a shootout. I expect this game will go over 70 points. Back the over.
