The Miami Hurricanes will host the Texas A&M Aggies in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Texas A&M had an easy win over New Mexico in Week 1, while Miami blew out Miami (OH). Which team will move to 2-0 here?

Texas A&M Preview

The Texas A&M Aggies are 1-0 this season after their blowout win against New Mexico by a score of 52-10 in Week 1. Texas A&M jumped all over New Mexico in the first half and led by a score of 35-7 at halftime. In the second half, the Aggies took it easy, only scoring 17 points in the blowout victory. Texas A&M out gained their opponent by a total of 411-222 and forced one turnover on defense. Texas A&M threw for 277 yards and rushed for 134 yards, while going 3-7 on third down attempts and 1-1 on fourth downs. Conner Weigman went 18/23 for 236 yards and five touchdown passes, while also adding 22 yards on the ground. Amari Daniels rushed for 51 yards, while Evan Stewart caught eight passes for 115 yards and two scores. Noah Thomas added six receptions for 74 yards and three touchdowns in the win. The Texas A&M defense looked very good, only allowing 10 points and 222 total yards. The Aggies do need to watch their discipline, as they committed nine penalties for 88 yards.

Miami Preview

The Miami Hurricanes are 1-0 this season after they defeated Miami (OH) by a score of 38-3 last week. Miami led 10-0 after the first quarter, but they were only able to add two field goals in the second quarter, taking a 16-3 lead into the half. The Hurricanes shut out the Redhawks in the second half and were able to add 22 points of their own in the blowout win. Miami out gained Miami (OH) by a total of 493-215, but did lose the turnover battle by a total of 1-0. Miami threw for 243 yards and rushed for 250 yards, while going 3-7 on third down attempts. The Hurricanes did hold their opponent to 2-12 on third downs and 0-3 on fourth downs. Tyler Van Dyke threw for 201 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the win. Henry Parrish Jr. rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown, while Colbie Young added four catches for 79 yards and one score. Miami looked very solid in this game and I was impressed on both sides of the ball. I am very interested to see how they line up against the Aggies.

  • Texas A&M ranked T32nd among FBS teams for H2 points allowed per game last season (11.0).

Both of these teams had easy wins in Week 1, but will meet in one of the better matchups in Week 2. The Hurricanes could really use a big win early in the season to give them some confidence after a losing season in 2022, while Texas A&M is trying to put last year’s disaster behind them. I was really impressed with what I saw from Miami in Week 1, as they only were about 17 point favorites, but won by 35. Miami will have the home field advantage and I think their defense is going to hold up in this one. I am going to take the Hurricanes with the points at home here.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
