Michigan State at Penn State - 11/26/22 College Football Picks and Prediction
The Michigan State Spartans and Penn State Nittany Lions face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Beaver Stadium. When these two teams faced off last year it was Michigan State that secured the 30-27 victory.
It has been a disappointing season for Michigan State, but they could make a bowl game with a win here. Michigan State sits with a 5-6 record and they have gone 4-7 against the spread. In the last game against Indiana, they were able to get to overtime, but ended up losing 39-31. Quarterback Payton Thorne did have a solid game finishing with 298 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. The Spartans also had two 100-yard rushers in Jalen Berger and Elijah Collins. The Spartans are averaging 25.2 points while their defense is giving up 26.7 points per game.
On the other side of this matchup is Penn State who sits with a 9-2 record and they have gone 8-3 against the spread. In the last game against Rutgers, Penn State put up 55 points and won in blowout fashion. Quarterback Sean Clifford completed 17 of his 26 passes for 157 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. Kaytron Allen also had a big game on the ground finishing with 11 carries for 117 yards and a touchdown. Penn State is averaging 35.9 points while their defense is giving up 18.2 points per game. Clifford at times has been inconsistent, and they need him good here.
Penn State is 5-0 against the spread in their last five conference games. The under is 7-0 in Penn State’s last seven home games against a team with a losing road record. The over is 4-0 in the Spartans last four games on grass. The over is 5-1 in the Nittany Lions last six games overall.
Michigan State’s offense looked better in the last game, and they should find success scoring again here. The Spartans defense really struggled though, and it’s going to be no different again in this game. Look for The Spartans and Nittany Lions to run up the score, and the over trend will cash again.
