The Texas Longhorns and Kansas Jayhawks face off on Saturday in a Big 12 college football showdown at KU Memorial Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was the Jayhawks that secured the 57-56 victory.
Texas comes into this game with a 6-4 record and they have gone 6-4 against the spread. This has been a very disappointing season and the last game was a perfect example of why. TCU hasn’t been known for their defense this year, but Texas only managed to score 10 points off of them in the last game. Quinn Ewers completed 17 of his 39 passes for 171 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. The Longhorns are averaging 33.5 points while their defense is giving up 21.3 points per game. If the defense is good here, Texas will be in good shape to secure the victory.
On the other side of this matchup is Kansas who sits with a 6-4 record and they have gone 7-2-1 against the spread. In the last game against Texas Tech, the defense struggled giving up 43 points, and that led to the 15-point defeat. Quarterback Jason Bean completed 17 of his 28 passes for 270 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Devin Neal is having a big game finishing with 24 carries and 190 yards. The Jayhawks are averaging 36.9 points while their defense is giving up 30.4 points per game. Jalon Daniels is close to returning from injury and he could play in this game.
Texas is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games. Kansas is 5-0-1 against the spread in their last six home games. The underdog is 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings between Texas and Kansas. The under is 6-0 in the last six meetings in Kansas.
Even if Daniels isn’t back for the Jayhawks, Kansas is going to find success here. This Longhorns offense isn’t elite, and the Jayhawks are going to be able to keep up, even if this is a shootout. We will take the points here to be safe, but I am also betting the Jayahwks on the money line. Kansas is going to pull the upset here.
Shane’s Pick Kansas +9.5
