The Tennessee Volunteers and South Carolina Gamecocks face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Williams-Brice Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Tennessee that secured the 45-20 victory.
Tennessee comes into this game with a 9-1 record and they have gone 8-2 against the spread. Tennessee’s only loss came against Georgia and if they win out it would be a bit shocking if they didn’t make the college football playoff. In the last game against Missouri, Tennessee scored 66 points and that led to the blowout victory. Hendon Hooker completed 25 of his 35 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns. The Volunteers are averaging 47.4 points per game which is the best in college football. The defense is giving up 21.9 points per game which is 37th in D1. Hooker on the season has thrown for 2,888 yards, 24 touchdowns, and two interceptions.
On the other side of this matchup is South Carolina who sits with a 6-4 record and they have gone 5-5 against the spread. In the last game against Florida, the offense only managed six points, and that led to the 32-point defeat. Two games ago against Vanderbilt, South Carolina won 38-27. The Gamecocks are averaging 28.6 points while their defense is giving up 26.2 points per game. Spencer Rattler on the season has thrown for 1,982 yards, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Running back Marshawn Lloyd has rushed 100 times for 556 yards and nine touchdowns.
Tennessee is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games. South Carolina is 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 games in November. Tennessee is 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four games against South Carolina.
Tennessee scored 66 points in the last game, and they are going to have no issue running up the score again in this game. This South Carolina offense is an issue, and won’t find much success against the Volunteers. This is going to be a blowout victory for Tennessee, and the Volunteers will cover the spread.
