The Miami Hurricanes and Clemson Tigers face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Clemson Memorial Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was Clemson that secured the 42-17 victory.
Miami comes into this game with a 5-5 record and they have gone 2-8 against the spread. The Hurricanes have been one of the most disappointing teams in college football, but they can become bowl eligible with a win in this game. Even though they have struggled they are coming off a 35-14 victory over Georgia Tech in the last game. Quarterback Jacurri Brown completed 14 of his 19 passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns. Miami is averaging 25.7 points while their defense is giving up 23.9 points per game.
On the other side of this matchup is Clemson who sits with a 9-1 record and they have gone 5-5 against the spread. In the last game against Louisville, Clemson’s defense gave up only 16 points, and that led to a comfortable victory. DJ Uiagalelei completed 19 of his 27 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown. Clemson is averaging 34.2 points while their defense is giving up 21 points per game. In this game, if the defense is good, they will be in good shape to secure the victory here. Clemson is fighting to make the college football playoff and they need to a couple of blowouts to really help boost their chances.
The Hurricanes are 1-5 against the spread in their last six conference games. Clemson is 8-2 against the spread in their last ten conference games. The favorite is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings.
Miami looked good better in the last game, but now they face off against the Clemson defense, and that is going to be a problem for them. Miami is going to really struggle to move the ball, and although Clemson might not score 40 points here, the defense is going to lead them to a cover of the spread. Back Clemson against the spread. Clemson should be favored by 30 points in this game.
