The Florida Atlantic Owls will travel up to Murfreesboro to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders from Johnny Floyd Stadium on ESPN+.
Florida Atlantic is 5-5 after defeating Florida International in Miami. The Owls pounded their arch rivals, out scoring the Panthers by 21 points in each half. FAU is averaging 30.7 points per game, while passing for 247.2 yards per game (95th) and rushing for 200.5 ypg (49th). The FAU defense gives up 23.8 points per game, while allowing yards per game.
N’Kosi Perry has been really nice for FAU since coming over from Miami. The fifth-year senior tossed three scores in the Week 10 win over UAB, then followed it up by scoring four touchdowns in the rivalry win over FIU. Perry has passed for 1,638 yards with 22 touchdowns to five interceptions through ten starts.
Junior back Larry McCammon III gained 104 yards in the win over FIU, and leads FAU in rushing with 611 yards. LaJohntay Wester has been a true difference maker on the outside, scoring in each of the past five games. The sophomore wideout scored three times in the loss to Purdue, and caught ten passes last weekend against North Texas. Wester leads FAU in receptions (52) and receiving yards (581).
Middle Tennessee State is 5-5 after beating Charlotte in Week 10. The Blue Raiders used an impressive second half to cross the finish line, out-scoring the Niners 17-0 after the break. MTSU is averaging 29.7 points per game, while passing for 249.2 yards per game (95th) and rushing for 114.5 ypg (2288th). The MTSU defense gives up 28.8 points per game.
Chase Cunningham has had a few bright moments this season. The senior quarterback shined against Miami, throwing for a career-high 408 yards in their biggest win in school history over the Hurricanes. Cunningham looked uncomfortable last time out, but he’s thrown for 2,193 passing yards with 14 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
Frank Peasant scored multiple touchdowns for the third time last weekend versus Charlotte. The sophomore back has gained 95 yards or more in each of the past three games, and he leads MTSU with 633 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Jaylin Lane leads the Blue Raiders in receptions (46) and receiving yards (647).
This will mark Cunningham’s final start of his career at Floyd Stadium, and after tossing three picks versus Louisiana Tech, he’ll definitely be aiming to leave his mark. Perry has been great for FAU all season, and there’s no reason that stop here versus a liable MTSU defense. A shootout in the Sun Belt feels likely here, as FAU is thriving offensively, while MTSU will be itching to get back after one of their lowest scoring outings of the season. Take the over here.
