The Rice Owls and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Houchens Industries L. T. Smith Stadium. The Hilltoppers have won the last three games over the Owls. 

The Rice Owls come into this game with a 5-4 record overall and they have gone 6-3 against the spread. In the last game against UTEP, the offense was strong scoring 37 points and that was enough to secure the seven-point victory. TJ McMahon completed 21 of his 31 passes for 334 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Brad Rozner finished with six catches for 142 yards and a touchdown. Rice is averaging 30 points per game while their defense is giving up 33.3 points per game. 

On the other side of this matchup is Western Kentucky who sits with a 6-4 record overall and they have gone 7-3 against the spread. In the last game against Charlotte, Western Kentucky scored 59 points and that was enough to secure 52 point victory. Austin Reed completed 23 of his 38 passes for 409 yards and six touchdowns. Malachi Corley finished with six catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. Western Kentucky is averaging 37.2 points while their defense is giving up 22.3 points per game. In this game Western Kentucky is going to need the offense to run up the score. 

Rice is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games. Western Kentucky is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games against a team with a winning record. The over is 6-1 in the Owls last seven games. The under is 5-0 in Western Kentucky’s last five games. 

Western Kentucky is an elite offensive team and they are coming off a game where they scored 52 points. Rice’s defense is giving up 33.3 points per game and they are going to struggle to slow down the Western Kentucky offense. Look for Western Kentucky to score at least 40 points and the Hilltoppers are going to cover the spread. This is one of my favorite plays on the entire board, and it should be an easy winner.
