The Texas Tech Red Raiders and TCU Horned Frogs face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Amon G. Carter Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was TCU that secured the 52-31 victory.
Texas Tech comes into this game with a 4-4 record overall but they are coming off a blowout loss in the last game. The Red Raiders only scored 17 points while the defense gave up 45 points. Under center for the Red Raiders was Behren Morton and he completed 11 of his 34 passes for 152 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. The Red Raiders are averaging 33.9 points while their defense is giving up 29.3 points per game. In this game, they are going to need a lot better game from Morton.
On the other side of this matchup is the TCU Horned Frogs who sit with an 8-0 record and they have gone 6-1-1 against the spread. In the last game against West Virginia, TCU scored 41 points, and that was enough to secure the 10 point victory. Max Duggan completed 16 of his 28 passes for 341 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. TCU has played with fire a lot this season, but they have been able to pull off victories. TCU is averaging 44.3 points while their defense is giving up 27.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 3rd best in all of college football.
The Red Raiders are 6-0 in their last six games following a straight up loss. TCU is 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall. The over is 4-1 in the Red Raiders last five games. The over is 6-1 in the Horned Frogs last seven games. The over is 4-1 in TCU’s last five games.
TCU has played with fire way too much this year and I think that is going to be a problem again in this game. Texas Tech has proven their offense can be good and TCU has struggled to defend most of this season. I wouldn’t be shocked if Texas Tech pulls this upset outright, but I will take the points to be safe.
