In the last game against Florida State, Georgia Tech’s defense was awful giving up 41 points and that led to the defeat. Under center for Georgia Tech was Zach Pyron and he completed 18 of his 28 passes for 198 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. Overall this season the offense hasn’t been exactly elite and they are averaging 16.1 points per game. The defense is giving up 28.1 points per game. 

On the other side of this matchup is Virginia Tech Hokies who sit with a 2-6 record overall and they have gone 3-5 against the spread. In the last game against NC State, Virginia Tech looked good giving up only 22 points, but the offense couldn’t make enough winning plays and they ended up losing by a point. Grant Wells completed 11 of his 22 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown. Virginia Tech is averaging 19.4 points while their defense is giving up 24.8 points per game. In this game they are going to need a big game from Wells, or this will be a disappointing day for the Hokies. 

Georgia Tech is 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 conference games. Virginia Tech is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 home games. The under is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings played between the two teams. The Yellow Jackets are 7-0 in their last seven meetings in Virginia Tech. 

I really don’t trust this Virginia Tech team to lay points against anyone. Outside of the last game, Georgia Tech finally seems to have turned the corner. Against Virginia, Georgia Tech only gave up 16 points. I expect Virginia Tech is going to struggle to score here, and that will be the difference as Georgia Tech is going to keep this game close. Back Georgia Tech against the spread.
