The Florida Gators will travel to College Station and take on the Texas A&M Aggies this Saturday from Kyle Field. Texas A&M and Florida have only met twice since becoming SEC rivals, with both schools picking up three point wins.

Florida is 4-4 after losing to Georgia in Jacksonville in Week 9. The Gators performed admirably in the third quarter and showed signs of life but ultimately fell to the Bulldogs by 22 points. Florida is scoring 30.1 points per game, while passing for 223.8 yards per game (153rd), and rushing for 199.1 ypg (49th). The UF defense is allowing 29.8 points per game.

Anthony Richardson will lead the Gators into College State on the heels of another underwhelming performance. The sophomore quarterback faced a stiff UGA defense that wouldn’t let them beat him with their feet, ultimately neutralizing him. It’s unlikely things turn around with the fierce 12th man barking their way. Richardson has passed for 1,638 yards with seven touchdowns to seven interceptions, while rushing for 414 yards and six more scores.

Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne split the load alongside Richardson. Johnson has scored in all but two games this season, and he leads Florida with 449 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Etienne has scored in back-to-back games and he’s rushed for 387 yards. Xzavier Henderson paces the team with 32 receptions, while big play threat Justin Shorter leads the group with 471 receiving yards.

Texas A&M is 3-5 after falling to Ole Miss at home last weekend. The Aggies lost by one score for the third game in a row, closing a spooky month of October out with a homecoming loss to Rebels. Texas A&M is scoring 22.6 points per game, while passing for 235.8 yards per game (131st), and rushing for 124.1 ypg (202nd). The A&M defense is allowing 22.6 points per game.

The revolving door at quarterback continues for Texas A&M as Haynes King was replaced by true freshman Conner Weigman. It’s gotten to that point in the season for the Aggies where they can start to look to next season, and Weigman’s first start may be a step in the right direction. The 6’2 quarterback threw for 338 yards with four touchdowns to no interceptions, putting together the finest stat line by far from an A&M QB this season.

Devon Achane has been consistent out of the backfield this season. The junior back has handled the full load for A&M, racking up a season-high 32 touches versus Ole Miss, gaining 179 total yards and scoring along the way. Achane is the team’s most dynamic player, and he’s rushed for 765 yards, caught 33 passes, and scored six total touchdowns (4 rush, 2 rec). Evan Stewart has been the most reliable threat outside, catching five passes or more in six of seven games, and leading A&M in receptions (38) and receiving yards (378).

Florida is 4-4 against the spread this season, with a 1-0 record on the road. Texas A&M is 4-4 against the spread this season, with a 3-2 record at home. The under is 13-3 combined in Gators and Aggies games this season.

Florida will come into College Station with one of most inconsistent offenses in the nation, and they’ll be matched up against one of the stronger defenses in the country here. It’s a mismatch from multiple angles, but QB play for both sides deems them untrustworthy.

Since defeating Utah at home in their opener, it’s been another middle of the pack season for Florida. This will mark their first time they leave the state this season, and they’ll have to perform in front of one of the rowdiest crowds in the nation. They will surely have growing pains traveling for the first time at this point in the season, and there isn’t much optimism there.

Jimbo Fisher’s season of turmoil may finally take a turn for the best here. Snapping a painful losing streak against an old personal rival of his from his time at Florida State may finally provide the longtime coach with a glimpse of Sunshine, ironically.

Trust the 12th man, and take Texas A&M’s spread.
