The Utah State Aggies and Wyoming Cowboys face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at War Memorial Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Wyoming that secured the 44-17 victory.
Utah State comes into this game with a 3-4 record overall but they have won two games in a row. Two games ago against Air Force the offense scored 34 points, and that was enough to win the game by seven points. In the last game against Colorado State, Utah State won by four points, but they used three different quarterbacks. Cooper Legas and Levi Williams were both hurt in the last game and it’s unclear if they will be able to go in this game. Utah State is averaging 19.9 points while their defense is giving up 31.7 points per game. In this game the defense is going to need to be better.
On the other side of this matchup is the Wyoming Cowboys who sit with a 4-3 record overall and they are coming off a victory in the last game against New Mexico. Wyoming only gave up 14 points, and that led to the victory. Under center for Wyoming is Andrew Peasley and in the last game, he completed 10 of his 21 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Treyton Welch caught four passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Wyoming is averaging 23.3 points while their defense is giving up 26.3 points per game.
Utah State is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight road games. Wyoming is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven conference games. The under is 6-2 in Utah State’s last eight games overall. The favorite is 7-2 against the spread in the last nine meetings played between the two teams.
There are so many questions about who is going to start for Utah State in this game, I just can’t trust them with the questions. Look for Utah State’s offense to struggle like they did in the last game against Colorado State, and that is going to be the difference here as Wyoming gets the job done. Back the Cowboys against the spread.
Shane’s Pick Wyoming -3.5
