Syracuse at Clemson - 10/22/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

Sean Tucker is one of the best backs in the country, and the Orange will surely lean on him this weekend. Tucker set a school record with 1,496 yards last season, and he’s picked up right here he left. The sophomore back had a career day against Wagner, and he dashed for 157 yards in the matchup with Clemson last season. Tucker is among ACC leaders with 644 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Oronde Gadsden has been the guy outside for Syracuse, and after a career day versus N.C. State last weekend, he leads the team with 31 receptions for 507 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Clemson is 6-0 after defeating Florida State in Week 7. The Tigers held off a late rally from the Seminoles in Tallahassee, out gaining FSU 460-370. Clemson is scoring 38.6 points per game, while passing for 247.4 yards per game (105th), and rushing for 170.1 ypg (95th). The Clemson defense allows 19.7 points per game.

D.J. Uiagalelei has stepped up big time this season and it’s got Clemson back in the national spotlight. The junior quarterback has performed well in two road contests this season, tossing for eight touchdowns in bouts with Wake Forest and Florida State. He remains a potent threat on the ground, and he’s an ACC POY candidate. Uiagalelei has thrown for 1,665 yards this season with 17 touchdowns to two interceptions, and he’s rushed for 337 yards and four more scores.

Will Shipley has lived up to the hype this season. The sophomore running back has a lot of Christian McCaffrey to his game, and he’s been dynamic out of the backfield. Shipley rushed for 121 yards in the win over FSU, and he leads the Tigers with 567 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Antonio Williams leads Clemson with 24 receptions and 334 receiving yards, while explosive wideout Beau Collins has a team-lead five touchdowns.

Syracuse is 5-1 against the spread this season, with a 1-0 record on the road. The under is 4-0 in Orange’s last 4 conference games. Clemson is 5-2 ATS this season. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings

The success of orange team’s nationwide has been admirable. Texas Football is back. Clemson looks like contenders again. Bret Bielema has Illinois’ making noise in the Big Ten. Syracuse is 6-0 for the first time since 1987, and we all saw what happened in Knoxville last weekend, as Tennessee picked up a groundbreaking win and painted one of the prettiest images of all-time.

We’ll receive a collision of two of those five squads here, pitting two of the ACC Atlantic’s best teams against each other. Spotting Syracuse the points here feels very appealing, especially after last season’s finish, this being their first real road contest is alarming. This isn’t a limping Clemson team either, it’s a surging one. One capable of laying the boom on their home turf, and using that hostility to their advantage.
