The Washington Huskies and Arizona State Sun Devils face off on Saturday in a Pac-12 college football showdown at Sun Devil Stadium. Last year it was Arizona State that secured the 35-30 victory. 

Washington comes into this game with a 4-1 record overall but they came crashing down to earth in a big way in the last game. Washington’s defense gave up 40 points to UCLA and that led to the eight-point defeat. Michael Penix Jr completed 33 of his 48 passes for 345 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Washington is averaging 41.6 points while their defense is giving up 23.2 points per game. The offense is ranked 12th in the league while their defense is ranked 57th in the league. In this game the defense is going to need to be good to take some of the pressure off Penix Jr. 

On the other side of this matchup is Arizona State who sit with a 1-4 record overall and they are coming off another loss in the last game. Arizona State scored 25 points against USC, but the defense gave up 42 points and that led to the defeat. Emory Jones is under center for Arizona State and in the last game, he completed 23 of his 32 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Arizona State is averaging 23.2 points while their defense is giving up 28.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 104th while their defense is ranked 86th in the league. 

Washington is 4-1 against the spread in their five games. Arizona State is 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games on grass. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings. The underdog is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between Washington and Arizona State. 

I don’t trust this Arizona State offense, and they just don’t have the talent to keep up. Penix Jr is coming off a big game against the Sun Devils defense that is giving up 28.6 points per game. This is a game where Washington should go over the 40-point mark, and the Huskies will win this game with ease. Back Washington against the spread.
