The South Carolina Gamecocks and Kentucky Wildcats face off on Saturday in an SEC college football showdown at Kroger Field. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Kentucky that secured the 16-10 victory. 

South Carolina comes into this game with a 3-2 record overall and they are coming off a blowout victory over South Carolina State. The Gamecocks scored 50 points, and that was enough to secure the 40 point victory. Spencer Rattler is under center for South Carolina and in the last game, he completed 21 of his 37 passes for 212 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. South Carolina is averaging 35.6 points while their defense is giving up 27.2 points per game. Rattler has shown some flashes this season, but the turnovers have been an issue, and he can’t throw two interceptions as he did in the last game. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Kentucky Wildcats who sit with a 4-1 record and the one loss came in their last game. The defense was good against Ole Miss giving up only 22 points, but the offense only scored 19 points. Even though the offense didn’t have the biggest game, Will Levis still looked impressive. He completed 18 of his 24 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Rodriguez had a big game rushing 19 times for 72 yards and a touchdown. On the season, Kentucky is averaging 28.8 points while their defense is giving up 14.8 points per game. 

South Carolina is 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games against a team with a winning record. Kentucky is 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall. The over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Kentucky. 

The Kentucky defense is elite, and they are going to have no issue slowing down the South Carolina offense. Spencer Rattler is going to struggle here, and I expect him to throw two or three interceptions. Kentucky might not score 40 points in this game, but they are going to score enough to cruise to the victory. Back Kentucky against the spread.
