The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Florida State Seminoles face off on Saturday in a Week 5 college football showdown at Doak Campbell Stadium. In 2021 it was Wake Forest that beat Florida State 35-14. 

Wake Forest comes into this game with a 3-1 record and the only loss came in the last game against the Clemson Tigers. Wake Forest forced overtime against Clemson, but couldn’t make the plays and that led to the 51-45 victory. Under center for Wake Forest is Sam Hartman and he’s coming off quite the game. Hartman completed 20 of his 29 passes for 337 yards and six touchdowns. Jahmal Banks caught six passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. The Demon Deacons are averaging 42.8 points while their defense is giving up 30.5 points per game. 

On the other side of this matchup is Florida State who sits with a perfect 4-0 record and they are coming off a blowout victory against Boston College. The offense put up 44 points against the Eagles, and they were able to secure the 30-point victory. Jordan Travis is having a big year and in the last game, he completed 16 of his 26 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown. The Seminoles on the season are averaging 37.5 points while their defense is giving up 18.8 points per game. Florida State does a good job of getting out to a fast start in games, and they are averaging 13.8 points per game in the 1st quarter.

Wake Forest is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games. Florida State is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games. The under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings played between the two teams in Florida State. The under is 7-0 in the last seven meetings between the two teams. 

Florida State sits with a 4-0 record, but I’m still not so sold on this team. Wake Forest is going to have another big game from Hartman, and the Demon Deacons are going to keep this game close. Florida State’s defense isn’t going to be a strong in this game, and Wake Forest is cover the spread.
