The Charlotte 49ers and South Carolina Gamecocks face off on Saturday in a Week 4 college football showdown at Williams-Brice Stadium. 

Charlotte lost their first three games of the season, but they are coming off a win in their last game over Georgia State. The offense put up 42 points against Georgia State, and that was enough to secure the one-point victory. The 49ers defense has been an issue this season and they are giving up 45.3 runs per game which is 129th in the league. Under center for Charlotte is Chris Reynolds and in his last start, he completed 31 of his 43 passes for 401 yards, and five touchdowns, and one interception. Elijah Spencer caught five passes for 96 yards and one touchdown. 

On the other side of this matchup is South Carolina and they come into this game with a 1-2 record. South Carolina beat Georgia State 35-14 in the first game, but since that point, they have lost South Carolina and Georgia. South Carolina on the season is averaging 24 points while their defense is giving up 35.3 points per game. Spencer Rattler is under center for South Carolina, and he hasn’t lived up to the expectations. In the last game, he completed 13 of his 25 passes for 118 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jalen Brooks caught five passes for 53 yards.

South Carolina is 7-1 against the spread in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The over is 4-0 in Charlotte’s last four games against a team with a losing record. The over is 6-0 in 49ers last 6 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.

Rattler has struggled but this Charlotte defense is awful, and South Carolina is going to run up the score in this game. Reynolds is coming off a game where he threw for 401 yards and he will lead Charlotte to plenty of points scored. This game is going to be high scoring and the over is going to cash. I think this game goes over 80 points here.
