The UTSA Roadrunners and Texas Longhorns face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
The UTSA Roadrunners come into this game with a 1-1 record overall and both games have gone to overtime. In the first game of the season, UTSA lost to Houston 37-35 but in the last game against Army they were able to win 41-38. In the last game quarterback, Frank Harris was quite impressive completing 32 of his 45 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Brandon Brady also had a nice game rushing 19 times for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Zakhari Franklin also had 10 catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns. In this game, Harris is going to need to have a big game, and they can’t fall behind early.
On the other side of this matchup is the Texas Longhorns who sit with a 1-1 record overall but they almost had the upset of the weekend in the last game. In the first game, they beat Louisiana-Monroe 52-10 but in the last game against Alabama, they lost 20-19. More important for the Longhorns heading into this game is the status of their quarterback. Quinn Ewers was playing well in the last game before he suffered a sprained AC joint that knocked him out of the game. It’s hard to imagine that he is going to play here, but there is always a chance. Hudson Card also suffered an ankle injury and it’s unclear if he will be able to go. If he can’t go the Longhorns will turn to Charles Wright.
UTSA is 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 games on fieldturf. Texas is 5-0 against the spread in their last five games against CUSA. The over is 6-0 in UTSA’s last six games overall. The under is 4-0 in Texas last four games overall.
I don’t think it matters who starts under center for Texas, I think this is going to be a very hard game for the Longhorns. Harris is a very good quarterback for UTSA and he is going to find some offensive success here. The Roadrunners defense is also good and will make enough stops to keep it within 10. Back UTSA against the spread.
