The North Texas Mean Green and UNLV Rebels face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at Allegiant Stadium.
North Texas is one of the few teams that has played three games so far this season and they sit with a 2-1 record. North Texas has wins over Texas Southern and UTEP, and the loss came against SMU. The defense really struggled in that game against SMU giving up 48 points. In the last game against Texas Southern, North Texas scoring 59 points and that led to the 42-point victory. Quarterback Austin Aune had a big game completing 11 of his 20 passes for 218 yards and four touchdowns. Ayo Adeyi had a big game finishing with 10 carries for 135 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of this matchup is UNLV and they come into this game with a 1-1 record. In the first game of the season, they beat Idaho State 52-21 and in the last game, they lost to Cal 20-14. Under center for UNLV is Doug Brumfield and he completed 18 of his 33 passes for 206 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Aidan Robbins finished with 14 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown. Ricky White had four catches for 54 yards. The defense wasn’t awful in the last game, but if they want a chance in this game, they are going to need to find a way to get the offense going.
North Texas is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games. UNLV is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight non-conference games. The under is 5-1 in North Texas last six games in September. The over is 6-2 in UNLV’s last eight games overall.
North Texas is coming off a game where they scored 59 points and they are going to have no issue running up the score again here. They might not score 59 points again here, and that is going to be the difference. I don’t trust Doug Brumfield here, and Nort Texas is going to secure the victory. Back North Texas to pull the upset.
